Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a balloon catheter which is configured so that the balloon is capable of smoothly contracting even if the balloon catheter is pulled. [Solution] A balloon catheter (10) is provided with: an expandable and contractible balloon (100); a hollow-shaped distal end shaft (110) which communicates with the balloon and which has an inner pipe shaft (140) provided therein; a hollow-shaped intermediate shaft (120) which connects to and communicates with the proximal end side of the distal end shaft; a hollow-shaped proximal end shaft (130) which overlaps and connects to the proximal end side of the intermediate shaft and which communicates with the intermediate shaft; and a reinforcement body (150) which extends from the proximal end shaft to the distal end shaft and which is affixed to the proximal end shaft. The intermediate shaft is more flexible than the distal end shaft. In the overlap section (121) where the intermediate shaft and the proximal end shaft overlap each other, the non-affixation section (123) where the intermediate shaft and the proximal end shaft overlap each other without being affixed to each other extends and is located closer to the distal end side than the affixation section (122) where the intermediate shaft is affixed to the proximal end shaft.
