Abstract:
This bandwidth control device transfers the packets of a plurality of communication flows that flow through a wideband circuit to a relay gateway between the wideband circuit and a narrow band circuit while discarding packets at a prescribed discard rate for every communication flow. The bandwidth control device performs: first processing that calculates a discard interval for each of the plurality of communication flows from the discard rate and a packet rate and calculates a discard cycle that is the least common multiple of the respective discard intervals of the plurality of communication flows; second processing that, for all of the discard patterns that can be made by combining cycle numbers for the discard packets of each of the plurality of communication flows, calculates a representative value for a per–discard cycle buffer accumulation quantity for the relay gateway on the basis of the bandwidth of the broadband circuit, the bandwidth of the narrowband circuit, and input traffic; and third processing that selects an optimal discard pattern that gives the smallest representative value for the buffer accumulation quantity from among all of the discard patterns and discards packets from the plurality of communication flows according to the optimal discard pattern.
