Provided is a banknote depositing and dispensing apparatus for stably stacking banknotes to be dispensed to a customer. A banknote press (26) has a "<" shape formed from a supporting surface (26a) which faces banknotes and an inclined surface (26b) which is disposed above the supporting surface (26a) and is inclined in the direction away from the banknotes. The banknote press (26) also has: two parallel slide pins (30) along a side surface in the movement direction; a slide groove (35) at a side of the banknote press (26); and a bent section (35a) at the end of a tongue-like stacking roller (28) side of the slide groove (35). When banknotes to be dispensed to a customer are stacked in a banknote depositing and dispensing section (10), the sliding pins (30) at the tongue-like stacking roller (28) side enter the bent section (35a) and cause the banknote press (26) to pivot in such a way that the supporting surface (26a) is inclined toward the tongue-like stacking roller (28).
