A base cloth for a coated airbag which has a base fabric composed of flat cross-section yarns having a flatness ratio (i.e. a ratio of the major axis to the minor axis of the cross-section of a single yarn) of 1.5 to 8 and, applied thereon, a resin elastomer, characterized in that respective single yarns are arranged in a manner such that a total average horizontality index (H1) represented by the following formula is in the range of 0.75 to 1.0, and the resin elastomer is attached in an amount of 0.1 to 60 g/m². The base cloth for a coated airbag combines mechanical properties, flame resistance, non air permeability, flexibility, compactness and containability in good balance of them.
