Abstract:
A battery can (1) formed such that the thickness T2 of its sealing section (12) and the thickness T3 of its bottom section (13) are greater than the thickness T1 of its side peripheral section (11) and that the thicknesses satisfies the expressions of T1 + 0.05 mm ≤ T2 ≤ T1 + 0.1 mm and 1.5 x T2 ≤ T3 ≤ 4 x T1. Conditions of producing by a DI method the battery can (1) satisfying the above are fulfilled by setting the thickness of the bottom section of a can base material (2), which is formed into the battery can (1), and the dimensions of a forming punch (3) and forming die at appropriate levels. The wall thickness of the battery can is thinned to increase the volume inside the can, and sufficient sealing strength and can strength are obtained even if the holding capacity for power generation elements is increased with the size of the battery can kept in the same level as that of conventional products.
