Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a storage battery control device and method for calculating an appropriate maximum allowable input/output power for suppressing degradation of a storage battery while suppressing a decrease in vehicle power performance when the storage battery is being charged or discharging with continuous currents. When it is detected that, with respect to the maximum allowable charging power and the maximum allowable discharging power that can be input and output during a calculated predetermined duration of time, charging or discharging is being continuously performed beyond the predetermined duration of time, the value of the maximum allowable charging power or the maximum allowable discharging power which is communicated to a vehicle control unit according to the state of charging or discharging is reduced on the basis of the time during which charging or discharging is actually continued.
