Abstract:
A battery control system 6 according to an embodiment controls the charging and discharging of a nickel-hydrogen battery 40 having hysteresis in the relationship between voltage and SOC. A microcontroller 61 selects one SOC usage range from among a plurality of SOC usage ranges according to a usage condition and controls the charging and discharging of the nickel-hydrogen battery 40 according to the selected SOC usage range. The microcontroller 61 determines whether the current SOC of a nickel-hydrogen battery 40 is a prescribed SOC corresponding to the lower limit of the SOC usage range 130. If a determination is made that the current SOC is the prescribed SOC, memory effect information for the nickel-hydrogen battery 40 is acquired. The microcontroller 61 controls the discharging of the nickel-hydrogen battery 40 using the acquired memory effect information.
