Title:
BATTERY HOUSING AND A VEHICLE COMPRISING SUCH A HOUSING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/063025
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A battery housing is provided for containing at least one battery and controlling the temperature thereof, the housing comprising a housing inlet for receiving fluid from a source external to the housing and a housing outlet for expelling fluid from the housing. The housing further comprises at least one battery compartment for accommodating the at least one battery, a compartment inlet by which fluid can enter the compartment and a compartment outlet by which fluid can exit the compartment, whereby fluid can be conveyed through the battery compartment from the compartment inlet to the compartment outlet. In addition, the housing comprises selectively configurable ducting that is selectively configurable between a first configuration in which the ducting connects the compartment outlet to the compartment inlet such that fluid can be recirculated through the battery compartment, and a second configuration in which the ducting connects the compartment inlet to the housing inlet such that fluid can enter the battery compartment from the external source. The selectively configurable ducting connects the compartment outlet to the housing outlet such that fluid can be expelled from the battery compartment and the housing, without or with limited recirculation.
