Abstract:
A method of assembling a battery module according to the present invention comprises: a sub-frame providing step in which a sub-frame having a plate shape is provided; a cell block seating step in which a cell block formed by coupling a plurality of battery cells is seated on the upper surface of the sub-frame; a preliminary assembly step in which a main frame having a cross-section with one opened side and three closed surfaces is preliminary fixed on the sub-frame so that the cell block can be accommodated in the main frame; and a welding step in which a contact point between the main frame and the sub-frame is welded. A battery module according to the present invention comprises: a sub-frame having a plate shape; a cell block which is formed by coupling a plurality of battery cells and is seated on the upper surface of the sub-frame; and a main frame having a cross-sectional shape with one opened surface and three closed surfaces, coupled to the sub-frame so that the opened side can be closed by the sub-frame, and accommodating the cell block therein, wherein the main frame and the sub-frame are bonded and fixed via welding.
