Abstract:
Provided are a battery module and a method for cooling a battery module. The battery module comprises a first battery cell and a cooling fin. The cooling fin is arranged in the vicinity of the first battery cell. The cooling fin has first and second headers, an extruded housing, and a flow diverter. The first header and the second header are coupled to a first end and a second end of the extruded housing, respectively. The extruded housing has a plurality of first flow channels and second flow channels which extend so as to fluidly communicate with the first header and the second header, respectively. The flow diverter is arranged within the first header to enable a fluid to flow from the first header, to pass through the first flow channels of the extruded housing, and to flow toward the second header so as to extract thermal energy from the first battery cell.
