Abstract:
This battery module comprises a plurality of cells that are aligned in a first direction; and this battery module also comprises a first heat transfer member and a first thermal expansion material, which are arranged at least between some cells that are adjacent to each other. The first thermal expansion material has a lower thermal conductivity than the first heat transfer member, and expands at a temperature that is not less than a first predetermined temperature. If the temperature of the first thermal expansion material is less than the first predetermined temperature, the cells adjacent to each other are connected to each other by means of a high thermal conductivity path that contains the first heat transfer member and has a first thermal conductivity; and if the temperature of the first thermal expansion material is not less than the first predetermined temperature, the cells adjacent to each other are connected to each other by means of a low thermal conductivity path that has a second thermal conductivity that is lower than the first thermal conductivity.
