Intended is to provide such a battery mounting structure in an electric tramcar as has a good weight balance in the tramcar entirety and a good cooling property of a battery and as keeps the sealing property between a battery chamber and a passenger room thereby to improve the safety. The battery mounting structure of an electric tramcar (1) is constituted such that a battery compartment (35) for housing a plurality of battery modules (or batteries) (33) formed by connecting a plurality of battery cells are formed on the floor (9) of the tramcar body, such that the battery compartment (35) is partitioned from the tramcar inside by a partition (37) of a sealing structure, and such that the floor (9) or the side wall face (11) of the tramcar body has an inlet port (41) and an outlet port (43) for introducing and discharging the ambient air into and out of the battery compartment (35), so that the inside of the battery compartment (35) can be cooled with the ambient air.
