Abstract:

A battery pack according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a pack housing; a plurality of battery modules stacked in the pack housing; a water tank connected to the plurality of battery modules and storing cooling water; a cooling water pipe including a main pipe connected to the water tank, a plurality of supply pipes connecting each of the battery modules to the main pipe, and a bypass pipe connected to the main pipe at an upper point thereof higher than the uppermost supply pipe among the plurality of supply pipes and at a lower point thereof lower than the lowermost supply pipe among the plurality of supply pipes; at least one sensor installed in the pack housing to sense a thermal runaway phenomenon occurring in at least a part of the plurality of the battery modules; and a controller for outputting a control signal which allows cooling water to flow into the battery modules through the cooling water pipe when a thermal runaway phenomenon is sensed by the sensor.
