Abstract:
The present invention relates to a battery pack system for applying a current to operate an external device. Provided are a battery pack system and an operating method thereof comprising: a battery module which is composed of a plurality of rechargeable and dischargeable battery cells and supplies the power to the external device; a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the battery module; an auxiliary power unit for applying the recharging and discharging pulse current to the battery module; and a control unit which applies the recharging and discharging pulse current by connecting the auxiliary power unit to the battery module when the measured temperature (Tbat) of the battery module is less than the set temperature (Tcrit) on the basis of the information detected from the temperature sensor before the battery module is electrically connected to the external device and also blocks the recharging and discharging pulse current when the temperature of the battery module rises above the set temperature (Tcrit).
