Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention relates to a battery protecting device and method by which an accumulated charging duration of a charging current applied to a battery cell is identified, and the accumulated charging duration is compared with a predetermined threshold duration to determine whether to permanently block the charging and discharging operation of the battery cell, thereby preventing lithium from precipitating in the battery cell due to the charging current and causing the battery cell to ignite.
