Title:
BATTERY SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/061461
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In the present invention, an ECU outputs address information to a battery monitoring AFE (6) when it is determined that there is a battery cell requiring charging. The battery monitoring AFE (6) turns on a transistor (T2) identified by the address information and outputs an active ON/OFF signal to a balancing circuit (4). The balancing circuit (4) is provided with DC converters (30) respectively connected to each battery cell (2a), and the battery cells are selectively charged by means of the operation of the DC converter (30) to which the ON/OFF signal is input. The DC converters (30) comprise magnetic amplifier style forward converters, and when the ON/OFF signal is active, if the voltage of a battery cell is lower than about 4.2 V, selectively charge the battery cell with the lowest cell voltage, ultimately maintaining the cell voltage at about 4.2 V and preventing overcharging of the battery cells (2a).
