Abstract:
The present invention relates to technology for performing authentication processing between devices in a beacon communication system, and to a beacon communication system having an authentication function using a transmission time difference of beacon signals and an authentication method therefor, the system and the method enabling a user terminal located in the vicinity of a beacon device to consecutively receive, two times, beacon signals generated from the beacon device so as to generate a random number corresponding to a transmission time difference of the beacon signals, and to provide the random number to the beacon device such that mutual authentication is processed, thereby improving communication efficiency by reducing the number of communicating times between devices for authentication processing, and enhancing a security function of authentication information by a third party. According to the present invention, the beacon communication system having an authentication processing function using a transmission time difference of beacon signals and the method therefor enable: a random number to be generated in a beacon device; beacon signals to be transmitted so as to have a time difference corresponding to the corresponding random number according to preset criteria, and with respect to this, authentication to be processed by comparing a random number provided from a user terminal with an autonomously generated random number; a user terminal to receive first and second beacon signals transmitted from the beacon device so as to generate a random number on the basis of a transmission time difference of the first and second beacon signals; and authentication request information including the random number to be transmitted to the beacon device.
