Abstract:
Provided is a bearing device for a turbocharger, the bearing device being configured so that, when a turbine shaft vibrates, a pair of ball bearings which supports the turbine shaft is not likely to generate heat or wear abnormally. A bearing device (1) for a turbocharger has a turbine wheel-side ball bearing (7) which is disposed at one axial end of a cylinder body (5), a compressor impeller-side ball bearing (8) which is disposed at the other axial end of the cylinder body (5), and a bearing housing (6). The bearing housing (6) has a facing wall (31) which faces the axial outer side of the outer ring (10) of the turbine wheel-side ball bearing (7), and a facing wall (32) which faces the axial outer side of the outer ring (10) of the compressor impeller-side ball bearing (8). The outer ring (10) of the turbine wheel-side ball bearing (7) and the outer ring (10) of the compressor impeller-side ball bearing (8) have axial end surfaces (10a) offset closer to the axial outer side than the axial end surfaces (5a) of the cylinder body (5) so that oil films (f2) are formed between the outer rings (10) and the facing walls (31, 32).
