Abstract:
Provided is a bearing device for a vehicle wheel in which the sealing property of a seal is enhanced without increasing seal torque, and the life-span of the bearing is increased. A seal 8 is provided with: a metal core 15 press-fitted into an internal periphery at the end of an outer member 10; a first side lip 16a joined to the metal core 15, formed at an incline with respect to outward in the radial direction, and made to face a metal ring 17 across an axial-direction gap, the metal ring 17 being fitted on a base part 18 of a vehicle-wheel-attached flange 4; a second side lip 16b that is formed on the inner-diameter side of the first side lip 16a and that slides with interference in the axial direction; and a third side lip 19a formed at an incline with respect to outward in the radial direction, from a base part 19 covering the outer surface of the outer edge of the metal core 15 toward the vehicle-wheel-attached flange 4. The tip part of the third side lip 19a is formed flat and made to face a side surface 4b of the vehicle-wheel-attached flange 4 across an axial-direction gap, thus configuring a first labyrinth seal 20; and the outer edge of the metal ring 17 is made to face a seal member 16 across an axial-direction gap, thus configuring a labyrinth seal 25.
