Abstract:
A bearing device for wheel, wherein the bearing device has high strength and is lightweight, the load capacity (rated load) and rigidity of a bearing are increased, and the bearing device is adapted to be easily maintained.  An axle module is also provided. Axially extending ridges (35) are formed on either an outer-diameter surface of a shaft section (12) of an outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint or an inner-diameter surface (37) of a hole section (22) in a hub ring (1).  The ridges (35) are axially press-fitted into the other.  By this, grooves (36) which are fitted to the ridges (35) so as to be in close contact with the ridges (35) are created in the other to form a groove-ridge fit structure (M) in which the entire area of fit and contact portions of the ridges and grooves are in close contact with each other.  In a rolling bearing (2), the pitch circle diameter of rolling elements (30) on the inboard side is set greater than the pitch circle diameter of rolling elements (30) on the outboard side.  The groove-ridge fit structure (M) allows separation between the constant velocity universal joint and the hub ring when an axial pulling force is applied to the structure.
