Abstract:
The inner circumferential surface of a retainer for a bearing (26) in an electric motor, of which output shaft receives a radial load and a thrust load, is formed with an iron material layer (24) having a ductility. In order to increase the concentricity of the inner circumferential surface of the bearing retainer, the inner circumferential surface of the iron material layer (24) is subjected to a cutting process after the front and rear housings (10, 14) have been combined with a stator (16). In order that a burr does not occur on an end surface edge (B) of the iron material layer (24), which constitutes a member to be cut, during this cutting process, the bearing retainer is formed by bringing an end surface (46) of the iron material layer (24) into close contact with an end surface retainer (44) formed integrally with the front housing (10).
