Abstract:
This bearing ring manufacturing method comprises a first step of placing steel material heated to a temperature above the A1 transformation point on a forming table, and a second step of forming and quenching a ring member after punching out the ring member from the steel on the forming table. A press die (30) is configured to be separable into an inner cylinder (30B) and an outer cylinder (30A). In the second step, a ring member (2A) is punched from coil material (2) by way of the distal end of the inner cylinder (30B) and the distal end of the outer cylinder (30A) being pressed into the coil material (2). The forming process and the quenching process for the punched-out ring member (2A) is performed by the tip of the inner cylinder (30B) being pressed further into the ring member (2A) while the ring member (2A) is being held between the outer cylinder (30A) and a forming die (32). Thus, it is possible to provide a bearing ring manufacturing method that maintains good forming precision for bearing rings and further shortens the manufacturing process.
