Abstract:
This invention provides the bearing seal being able to stably use for a long time under the acid or alkali environment by improving its corrosion resistance property against the organic acid or etc.. The bearing seal, which seals a space between an inner ring and an outer ring of a rolling bearing, comprising an annular core metal 7a, and a rubber member 8a bonded on a surface of the core metal by an adhesive layer, wherein the core metal 7a includes (a) a base material made of iron, (b) a layer acting as a protective film formed on a surface of the base material, wherein the layer is (b-1) a metal-plated layer 12a using a metal including chromium but not including zinc, which generate passive state film, or (b-2) a metal-plated layer using a metal which has a lower ionization tendency than iron, which protects the base material from corrosion, and (c) a chromium hydrate oxide layer 13a formed on a surface of said layer. The bearing seal can stably use for a long time, because it can protect the base material under the acid or alkali environment, and prevent an occurrence of the peeling of the adhesive layer.
