Abstract:
A bearing for a wheel, with which a load sensor can be compactly installed in a vehicle and a load acting on the wheel can be stably detected. The bearing for a wheel has an outer member (1) on whose inner periphery double-row rolling surfaces (4) are formed; an inner member (2) on which rolling surfaces (5) facing the rolling surfaces (4) of the outer member (1) are formed; and double-row rolling bodies (3) arranged between both rolling surfaces (4, 5). A ring member (21) made from a magnetostrictive material is fixed to the outer periphery of the inner member (2), and a magnetostrictive sensor (23) and a displacement sensor (22) are disposed, in a manner facing the ring member (21), on the outer member (1) or a member (24) fixed to the outer member (1). The magnetostrictive sensor (23) measures the change in magnetostriction of the ring member and the displacement sensor (22) measures the distance between the ring member (21) and the displacement sensor (22).
