Abstract:
The invention relates to a bed comprising a bed frame with a sleeping plane on which a mattress (3) is disposed and which is provided, at least along the longitudinal sides thereof, with at least one barrier element (5), said element being able to assume two extreme positions i.e. a first vertical upright position in which it extends close to the mattress (3), the summit thereof being located at a level which is higher than that of the upper surface of the mattress, in order to provide a means for retaining the occupant in his/her bed; a second retracted position wherein the summit thereof is located at a level which is at least lower than that of the upper surface of the mattress (3). The bed comprises means (200, 200', 8) for adjusting the lateral position of the barrier (5) in an upright position, said means being provided such that they can be adapted to the width of the mattress used.
