Abstract:
Provided is a belt-type continuously variable transmission capable of changing gears even if pulley rotation has stopped as a consequence of the vehicle stopping and also capable of improving both gear change speed and durability. In the continuously variable transmission (1): a drive pulley (3) and a driven pulley (4) are configured by fixed sheaves (3a, 4a) integrated with rotary axes (5, 6) and moveable sheaves (3b, 4b) movable in the axial direction of the rotary axes (5, 6) so as to approach/move further away from the fixed sheaves (3a, 4a); the facing surfaces of each sheave are tapered surfaces forming a belt-winding groove that winds around a non-metallic composite belt (2); and the winding radius of the non-metallic composite belt (2) is changed by moving the moveable sheaves (3b, 4b) in the axial direction of the rotary axes (5, 6) to continuously change the gear ratio. Each tapered surface of the driven pulley (4) is formed such that the friction coefficient for the outside section thereof is smaller than the friction coefficient for the inside section thereof in the radial direction thereof.
