Description:
Bending press having a drive system with torque motor

DESCRIPTION Technical field

The invention relates to bending presses used in shaping the metal sheets.

The invention especially relates to a drive system with torque motor which provides the motion of the moving upper beam, to which top tool that applies pressure on the bottom tool positioned on the bottom table is connected, in the bending presses used in shaping the metal sheets.

State of the art

Today, bending presses are used for shaping the metal sheets in various sectors particularly in automotive sector. Bending press is the machine which moves on the slides onto the lower block to which the bottom tool is connected by means of the hydraulic pistons; wherein the upper block, to which the top tool in the upper section connected to the main body is connected, subjects the metal sheet having a specific weight, specific length and thickness to the bending process in various forms by means of a bottom tool and a top tool.

Bending presses are used for shaping the metal sheet in specific angles in metal sheet production. The bending presses consist of a bottom tool positioned on a bottom table and a moving upper beam pressing the piece, which is intended to be formed, towards the bootom tool on the bottom table. Basically, the system operates with the principle of providing the power obtained by using hydraulic fluid to move the upper beam and at the same time giving shape to the metal sheet thanks to this power. In the hydraulic system used in state of the art, the seals lose their function in time due to the occurring high forces. Function loss of the seals results in oil leakage. This situation necessitates changing the seal and oil in certain periods. Said problems cause environmental pollution and increase the maintenance costs. During the running of the bending presses with hydraulic system, even when any operation is not performed, energy is still drawn. This causes the continuously running system to consume energy, produce heat unnecessarily and to operate noisily.

Some documents are found in the research relating to the state of the art. One of them is the utility model document No. TR2007/07359, titled "Novelty in electric bending press with servo torque motor". The invention relates to bending presses which perform the bending process with high sensitivity, at rapid and short acceleration time on the metal sheet thanks to the upper beam moved downwards and upwards by means of the belt-pulley mechanism driven by the servo motors operated with electric energy and to the top tool group connected with the upper beam; provide processing of the long metal sheet pieces thanks to the interconnection of multiple bending presses by means of the connection extensions formed on the upper beam and lover beam.

To conclude, improvements are being made in the bending presses; therefore, new configurations which will eliminate the aforementioned disadvantages and offer solutions to the existing systems are needed.

The main object of the invention is to provide the upper beam motion in the bending presses.

An object of the invention is to eliminate the technical problems, e.g. oil leakage as a result of the seals losing their function due to hydraulic system.

Another object of the invention is to minimize the maintenance costs. Another object of the invention is to prevent the environmental pollution occurring indirectly as a result of using the existing hydraulic system.

Another object of the invention is to reduce the consumed energy by providing the bending press to stay under load only during the operation and also to prevent the problems such as the occurring heat and noise.

• at least one screw connected with the torque motor and rotating with the drive it takes from the torque motor,

• at least one nut positioned on the upper beam and connected with the screw, providing the motion of the upper beam in vertical axis with the rotational motion it takes from the screw

is obtained.

In a preferred configuration of the invention, it comprises a guide element which is positioned in the bending press body, connected between the body and upper beam, and provides the linear motion of the upper beam.

In another preferred configuration of the invention, a bearing element which provides the screw to be connected to the bending press body and torque motor is involved.

The structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood thanks to the figures below and the detailed description written with reference to those figures. Therefore, the evaluation needs to be done by taking said figures and the detailed description into consideration.

Detailed Description of the Invention

In this detailed description, the preferred configurations of the bending press according to the invention are described only for a better understanding of the subject without any limiting effect.

The invention is a bending press which is used in shaping the metal sheets; comprises a bottom tool (8) on which the metal sheet is positioned and takes the shape thereof; a bottom table (7) on which the bottom tool is connected; a top tool (6) which applies pressure on the bottom tool (8) and provides the shaping of the metal sheet; a moving upper beam (5) on which said top tool (6) is positioned; and a body (4) on which all the elements are connected; wherein it comprises • at least one torque motor (1 ) positioned on the bending press body (4),

• at least one screw (3) connected with the torque motor (1 ) and rotating with the drive it takes from the torque motor (1 ),

• at least one nut (2) positioned on the upper beam (5) and connected with the screw (3), providing the motion of the upper beam (5) in vertical axis with the rotational motion it takes from the screw (3).

To provide the function of shaping the metal sheet, the bending press according to the invention generally consists of a bottom table (7) where the bottom tool (8) giving the shape of the metal sheet is positioned, an upper beam (5) where the top tool (6) applying pressure onto the bottom tool (8) is positioned, a torque motor (1 ) providing the motion of the upper beam (5), and nut (2) and screw (3) transferring the motion of the torque motor (1 ) to the upper beam (5). Front view of the bending press is given in Figure 1 . The metal sheet to be processed in the bending press is placed on the bottom tool (8) positioned on the bottom table (7). The metal sheet is shaped as a result of the top tool (6) applying pressure on the bottom tool (8). The top tool (6) is connected to a moving upper beam (5). Motion of the upper beam (5) is provided with the torque motors (1 ) disposed on the bending press body (4). Transferring the motion of the torque motor (1 ) to the upper beam (5) is provided with the screws (3) connected to the torque motor (1 ). Screws (3) are connected to the torque motor (1 ) and the body (4) with the bearing elements (10). The screws (3) rotate with the drive of the torque motor (1 ). Nuts (2) positioned in the upper beam (5) body are provided for converting the rotational motion of said screws (3) into a motion in vertical axis. As a result of the rotational motion of the screws (3) connected with the nuts (2), the motion of the upper beam (5) in vertical axis is provided with the principle of screw-nut motion.

Side view of the bending press is given in Figure 2. The screws (3) act as a bearing for the bending press body (4) by providing the motion of the nuts (2) and thus the motion of the upper beam (5). A guide element (9) connected between the bending press body (4) and the upper beam (5) is provided for providing the linear motion of the upper beam (5). Said guide element (9) is a slide with rail. Thereby, the upper beam (5) performs sliding in connection with the bending press body (4).

The press length and capacity change according to the size of the piece to be shaped in bending presses. Accordingly, the motion of the upper beam (5) is realized by one torque motor (1 ) from the middle section of the body (4) in short lengths and by two torque motors (1 ) from the both sides of the body (4) in longer lengths. With the configuration according to the invention, the motion is provided completely electrically and mechanically. Thereby, problems arising from hydraulic system are prevented. Moreover, energy is substantially saved with the bending press consuming energy only during the operation time. Heat and noise problems are also minimized.
