Abstract:

Disclosed is a beverage packed in a foam container, which contains a catechin at a high concentration, has the compatibility between reduced bitterness and a proper degree of sweetness, and causes less reduction in the catechin content even when stored for a long period despite containing a sweetening agent. The beverage contains a purified product of a tea extract and satisfies the following requirements: a non-polymeric catechin (A) is contained in an amount of 0.08 to 0.5% by mass; a sweetening agent (B) is contained in an amount of 0.0001 to 20% by mass; a carbon dioxide gas (C) is contained at a gas volume of 0.5 to 4.0% by volume; the ratio of a non-epi-form catechin in the non-polymeric catechin (D) is 5 to 25% by mass; the ratio of a gallate-form catechin (E) to the non-polymeric catechin (A) (i.e., [(E)/(A)]x100) is 5 to 55% by mass; (F) the pH value is 2.5 to 5.1; and the ratio of the content of caffeine (G) to that of the non-polymeric catechin (A) [i.e., [(G)/(A)] is 0.0001 to 0.16 by mass.
