Abstract:
The invention pertains to biaxially stretched TPS/PLA foil or film comprising 1 - 30 wt% thermoplastic starch (TPS) with 30 - 80 wt% polylactic acid (PLA) and 1 - 20 wt% vinyl acetate - vinyl fatty acid copolymers, preferably vinyl acetate - vinyl laureate and/or vinyl acetate - vinyl crotonic acid copolymer, optionally 1 - 20 wt% TPS compounder and optionally 1 - 20 wt% vinyl acetate - ethylene copolymer, based on the total weight of TPS, optional TPS compounder, PLA and said copolymer(s), wherein glycerol, sorbitol, glycol and polyethylene glycol, if present, are present in a total amount less than 1 wt%, preferably less than 0.1 wt%, based on the total weight of TPS, optional TPS compounder, PLA and said copolymer(s).
