Title:
BICYCLE CONTAINERS WITH COMPRESSED LOCKABLE ROOMS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1989/008578
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention is a container system for storing of bicycles in lockable separate rooms, where the container rooms are made in a way that the benefit from the horizontal perspective. Each separate bicycle room is locked and the walls are made of a transparent material.

1. Container to store bicycles kept in separate lockable cctrpartments characterized by the separating wall between adjacent ccπpartments being established by a diagonal vertical closed wall, especially in a cubic and rectangular container room frαn one corner to the opposite corner and of sufficient length for a standard bicycle and width allowing for the handle¬ bars and permitting the handlebars of the bicycle to face the opening gate of the cαnpartment in question.
2. Container to store several bicycles in separate lockable compartments, as per item 1, characterized by the separating wall being shaped in the form of a stretched 'S1, the open 'S1 curve opening on the handlebars of the stored bicycle.
3. Container to store several bicycles in separate lockable ccrnpartments, as per item 1, characterized by the separating wall forming an acuteangle of 2 35 degrees between the perpendicular connectting and separating walls mounted between the lengthwise vertical side walls of the container.
4. Container to store several bicycles in separate lockable ccrnpartments, as per item 1, characterized by the walls surrounding the bicycles being nontransparent.
Description:
Bicycle containers with cαπpressed lockable rooms

The purpose of this invention is to present a container system designed to store bicycles and offering the advantage of utolizing the container room ideally because of the rectangular container.

Previously bicycles have been stored under conditions comparable to con¬ tainer storage, placing each bicycle in a square room, perhaps equipped with a lock.

The design of known bicycle container rooms has not prevented open view of bicycles in adjacent ccfnpartments, facilitating the choice of bicycle room in case of thsft.

Further, the exterior shape of existing container systems has required much space, thus reducing the room intended for bicycles. Often bicycles have been placed outside the container system exposed to theft.

Areas available at public means of transportation, at schools, theatres etc. are often insufficient.

A locked room specifically designed for the bicycle would be perfect, and, if carried out as described by this invention, production cost would be low and limit the space needed.

The system would impede theft, because of difficulties in moving swiftly in an acute-angled room, this is of.course of importance as bicycle theft must be cαrmitted quickly.

It would be possible to establish an automatic fixation of the bicycle s-imiltaneously with the opening of the gate, to be released perhaps by one and same key.

Expl ining the invention in detail, reference is made to the-enclosed . designr

Figure 1 shows the container with one bicycle seen from above and in a perspective view.

Figure 2 shows the cont iner with two bicycles seen from above.

Figure 3 shows the container with sliding diagonal wall seen frαn above.

Figure 4 shows the container with a diagonal wall in the shape of the letter *S' seen frcrri above.

Figure 5 shows the container with diagonal wall in the shape of the letter *Z' seen frαn above.

Figure 1 shows the container (1) seen frαn above in a perspective view with a bicycle (5) placed in an acute-angled cαnpartment (9) being a lateral reversion of the adjacent cxxnpartment.

The diagonal wall is non-transparent and made of plate material dividing the rectangular rcom into two acute-angled rooms (7) and (9).

The closed ccrrpartment (9) and (7) etc. may be opened by a gate (3) furnished with a lock (4) to be operated mechanically or electronically.

Figure 2 shows the container (1) seen frαn above with two bicycles (5). The drawing shows the gates (3) in locked position and the stippled line in open position.

Of course the gates could consist of vertically/horizontally operated garage gates. The angle betwsen the diagonal wa l and the vertical wall may frαn an angle of 2 - 35 degrees depending on the width of the container and of the single or double cαnpartments.
