A bicycle tyre pressure monitoring apparatus and method, the apparatus comprising an outer shell (101), a pressure sensor (102), and a communication interface (103); the outer shell (101) is mounted on a valve core (104) of the tyre and is screwed to the valve core (104), and a protruding structure (105) extending into the valve core (104) and top opening the valve inside the valve core (104) is arranged in the outer shell (101); a ventilating hole for conducting the gas in the tyre into the outer shell (101) is arranged on the protruding structure (105); the pressure sensor (102) is arranged inside the outer shell (101), and is used for detecting the pressure of the gas in the tyre conducted by the ventilating hole; and the communication interface (103) is used for sending the pressure detection results to a tyre pressure output device (106) for display and/or playback. The present method monitors the tyre pressure of a bicycle, improving the safety of people and vehicles.
