Title:
BIFILAR CONDUCTOR STRIP STRUCTURE OF A HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTOR FOR CURRENT LIMITING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2004006345
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Disclosed is a unit (1) which resistively limits an electric current and comprises a superconducting layer and at least one support element (3) made of an insulating material for holding a conductor (2) that extends between power connections (4) feeding and discharging the current and embodies coils (8) in the form of a bifilar conductor structure such that a current that is to be limited flows in opposite directions in adjacent coils (8). The aim of the invention is to create such a current-limiting unit (1) which can be cooled to a high degree by means of a liquid cooling agent while being inexpensive, allowing a continuous production method, and being provided with a sufficiently great current carrying capacity. Said aim is achieved by providing the conductor (2) with at least one planer conductor strip (9) which is kept at a distance from the adjacent coils (8) by means of the support element (3) such that a liquid cooling agent can penetrate between the coils (8).
