Abstract:
Provided is a small and inexpensive bill-handing apparatus which includes a bill storage section and an auxiliary storage section. The auxiliary storage section is used if the number of deposited bills of a predetermined type exceeds the capacity of the bill storage section, and the capacity of the auxiliary storage section does not become insufficient. In the bill-handing apparatus, bills are acquired from a mixed stacker in which different types of bills are mixed and stored, the acquired bills are identified using an identification section and distributed according to the type of bill to temporary storage sections which correspond to other stackers, the distributed bills are transferred to and stored in the mixed stacker with the same types of bills being stored together in an order corresponding to the type of bill, and the capacity of the auxiliary storage is therefore prevented from being exceeded.
