Abstract:
Provided is a binder composition for electrochemical elements, having excellent binding properties and capable of forming a functional layer that can improve the rate characteristics and cycle characteristics of electrochemical elements (e.g., secondary batteries). This binder composition for electrochemical elements includes a binding material and nitrogen-based organic compound. The binding material is a polymer having at least one type of functional group selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, an amino group, an epoxy group, an oxazoline group, an isocyanate group, and a sulfonic acid group. The nitrogen-based organic compound has: at least one type of functional group selected from the group consisting of an azo group, a hydrazino group, a hydrazo group, and a nitroso group; a 5% mass reduction temperature of at least 140°C; and a molecular weight of 80–1,000.
