Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a binder composition for nonaqueous secondary battery electrodes, which is capable of forming an electrode for nonaqueous secondary batteries, said electrode having excellent peel strength and enabling a nonaqueous secondary battery to exhibit excellent cycle characteristics. A binder composition according to a first embodiment of the present invention contains a particulate polymer A1 that contains from 70% by mass to 99% by mass (inclusive) of an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer unit and from 1% by mass to 30% by mass (inclusive) of a carboxylic acid group-containing monomer unit. A binder composition according to a second embodiment of the present invention contains a particulate polymer A2 that contains from 70% by mass to 95% by mass (inclusive) of an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer unit and from 1% by mass to 30% by mass (inclusive) of a (meth)acrylate ester monomer unit, while having a degree of swelling in an electrolyte solution of from 1.2 times to 7.0 times (inclusive).
