Title:
BIOELECTRICAL METHOD FOR CLEANING SOIL FROM ORGANIC IMPURITIES AND DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT SAID METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/062498
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention relates to bioelectrical means for eliminating petrol and petroleum products pollution and can be used for cleaning disturbed and undisturbed soils. The inventive method for bioelectrical cleaning of soil from organic petroleum and petroleum products pollution consists in introducing a solution of crudeoil oxidising microorganisms in a cleaning area, arranging electrodes (anode and cathode) in the cleaning area, passing direct current therebetween, collecting the solution accumulated near cathode and reintroducing it in the cleaning area. In order to ensure a temperature and pH values which are optimal for the life activity of microorganisms and reduce the energy consumption, the direct current is intermittently switched on and off and the soil temperature is maintained within a range between +10 °C and 40 °C. The soil can be pre-heated to a temperature ranging from +10 °C to 20 °C. Air can be intermittently supplied to the cleaning area and petrol and petrol products vapours can be intermittently pumped out from the cleaning area.
