Abstract:
Provided is a biological purification agent, etc., using unused biomass resources, which enables sufficient removal, for a long period, of heavy metal ions in water for treatment containing heavy metal ions and sulfate ions, and also enables sufficient suppression of organic substance contamination in treated water. This purification agent is characterized by containing grain husks that hold sulfate-reducing bacteria. This biological purification system comprises: a treatment container in which the purification agent is stored and an anaerobic state is maintained; a supply system for supplying the water for treatment to the inside of the treatment container; and a discharge system for discharging treated water, from which the heavy metal ions were removed by the purification agent in the treatment container, from the treatment container. In this biological purification method, the purification agent is brought into contact with the water for treatment in an anaerobic state so as to precipitate the heavy metal ions in a sulfide form, and the precipitate is removed from the water for treatment.
