Abstract:
A biological state monitoring system (100, 200) monitors the biological state of a subject on a bed (BD) and comprises: at least one load detector (11, 12, 13, 14) that detects the load of the subject on the bed; a body motion determination unit (33) that determines whether a body motion is occurring in the subject, on the basis of a temporal change in the detected values of the load detectors; a respiration rate estimation unit (34) that successively derives an estimated value of the respiration rate of the subject, on the basis of the temporal change in the detected values of the load detector, and outputs the derived values; and a twitch determination unit (35) that determines whether the body motion is a twitch on the basis of the duration of the body motion of the subject. If the twitch determination unit determines that the body motion is not a twitch, the respiration rate estimation unit stops outputting the respiration rate estimated value, or outputs a first estimated value derived last of all in the period which immediately preceded the body motion and in which the body motion determination unit determined that a body motion had not occurred in the subject. If the twitch determination unit determines that the body motion is a twitch, the respiration rate estimation unit successively outputs newly derived respiration rate estimated values.
