Abstract:
The present invention primarily addresses the problem of providing a biomarker that enables autoimmune diseases to be accurately assessed. The problem is solved by a biomarker for autoimmune diseases, comprising mitochondrial DNA contained in biological fluids. Furthermore, the present invention provides a diagnostic kit containing a reagent that enables said biomarker to be detected, and a method or the like for detecting autoimmune diseases in animal subjects on the basis of the amount of said biomarker in the serum of the animal subjects.
