Title:
BIOMARKERS FOR CARDIOMETABOLIC DISEASES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/032815
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of identifying a predisposition for developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in a subject, or for producing a diagnostically informative value of the amount of one or more protein(s) or mRNA(s) encoding said protein(s) for identifying a predisposition for developing a type 2 diabetes mellitus, said method comprising or consisting of (i) assessing in a sample obtained from said subject the amount of one or more protein(s) and/or mRNA(s) encoding said protein(s), wherein said one or more protein(s) is/are selected from a group of proteins as defined in the following, and (ii) determining parameters of said subject, wherein (a) said parameters are age and sex, and said group consists of AP0C2, AP0C3, APOE, CRP, MASP-1, ADIPOQ, ΙΤΊΗ4, and SHBG; (b) said parameters are age, sex and BMI, and said group consists of AP0C2, AP0C3, APOE, MASP-1, ADIPOQ, ITIH4, PZP and SHBG; or (c) said parameters are age, sex, BMI, smoking status, alcohol intake, physical inactivity, actual hypertension, log 10-transformed triacylglycerol levels and Iog10-transformed total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol ratio and said group consists of MASP-1, ADIPOQ, ITIH4, ORM1 and PZP; wherein an increase in the amount of APOC2, APOC3, APOE, CRP or MASP-1 or of an mRNA encoding APOC2, APOC3, APOE, CRP or MASP-1 or a decrease in the amount of ADIPOQ, ITIH4, SHBG, PZP or ORM1 or of an mRNA encoding ADIPOQ, ITIH4, SHBG, PZP or ORM1 as compared to the amount of said protein(s) or said mRNA(s), respectively, of a control is indicative of a predisposition to develop type 2 diabetes mellitus.
