Abstract:
A biometric authentication device is provided with a check data generation unit for generating check data from biological information, an update need judgment unit for judging whether or not to update registration data that is registered for a check against the check data on the basis of the difference between the biological quality of the registration data and the biological quality of the check data, and a registration data replacement unit for replacing the registration data with generated update data according to the result of the judgment by the update need judgment unit. A biometric authentication method comprises a check data generation step of generating check data from biological information, an update need judgment step of judging whether or not to update registration data that is registered for a check against the check data on the basis of the difference between the biological quality of the registration data and the biological quality of the check data, and a registration data replacement step of replacing the registration data with generated update data according to the result of the judgment in the update need judgment step.
