Abstract:

Provided are a biometric authentication device and a fingerprint feature extraction method with which parameters for extracting a feature amount from a biometric image can be automatically optimized. The biometric authentication device comprises: a teaching data generation unit that generates a correct solution pair and an incorrect solution pair for a first biometric image and a second biometric image; a learning data generation unit that uses a plurality of different temporary parameters to extract a feature amount from the first biometric image and the second biometric image; and an optimal solution determination unit that calculates a score degree of separation for each temporary parameter on the basis of a first score expressing a degree of coincidence between the pair of feature amounts extracted from the correct solution pair and a second score expressing a degree of coincidence between the pair of feature amounts extracted from the incorrect solution pair, and assesses the temporary parameter on the basis of the size of the score degree of separation.
