Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to maintain superior electrolysis efficiency and high generated gas purity even with high density current operation in a bipolar electrolytic vessel for alkali water electrolysis using a porous membrane that includes inorganic particles as a barrier membrane. Provided are a bipolar electrolytic vessel, bipolar electrolytic vessel for alkali water electrolysis, and method for manufacturing hydrogen, said bipolar electrolytic vessel being provided with a plurality of assemblies of positive electrode, negative electrode, and barrier membrane disposed between the positive electrode and negative electrode, wherein the bipolar electrolytic vessel is characterized in that at least one of the positive electrode and negative electrode is a porous electrode with an average pore diameter of 10 – 200 nm and the barrier membrane is a porous membrane that includes inorganic particles with an average primary particle size of 20 – 300 nm.
