Abstract:
Provided is a bisphenol composition that has a bisphenol content of at least 95 mass% and contains at least 200 ppm by mass of a compound represented by general formula (II). Also provided is polycarbonate resin production method using the bisphenol composition.　In general formula (II), R21 and R22 represent a methyl group or a hydrogen atom, with the caveat that if R21 is a hydrogen atom, R22 is a methyl group, and if R21 is a methyl group, R22 is a hydrogen atom. R23 to R25 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C1-20 alkyl group. R23, R24 and R25 may have a bond or a crosslink between two of the groups.
