Abstract:
Disclosed is an on-board apparatus control system that is equipped with a portable device (20) and an on-board device (10) that determines whether or not the portable device (20) is present within a normal area and controls an on-board apparatus according to the determination result. The on-board device (10) causes a request signal to be transmitted from a specific transmission antenna to a normal area around the vehicle, and a determination signal from the other transmission antennas to non-normal areas around the vehicle. The portable device (20) transmits a response signal, including received signal strength information indicating the strength of the received determination signal, to the on-board device (10) in response to the request signal. When the strength of the determination signal received by the portable device (20) is determined to be greater than a prescribed value, the on-board device (10) controls the on-board apparatus on the assumption that the portable device (20) is in a non-normal area.
