Abstract:
A first purpose is to calculate a travel position based on a rotation detection signal from a rotation detection device provided on an axle, thereby enabling a train occupancy range based on this travel position to be calculated as an appropriate range length. A second purpose is to enable a failure of the rotation detection device to be determined. An on-board device determines, on the basis of a speed pulse output by each of pulse generators provided on a plurality of different axles of a train, whether idling or sliding has occurred at any of the plurality of axles on which the pulse generators are provided. When the occurrence of idling or sliding is detected, among the travel positions based on the speed pulses output by the respective pulse generators, the head position of the train is determined on the basis of a forward travel position and the rearmost position thereof is determined on the basis of a backward travel position, thereby calculating a train occupancy range. An abnormality of the pulse generators is also determined on the basis of the speed pulse, and a speed or acceleration/deceleration calculated from the speed pulse.
