Abstract:
An on-board processing device that comprises a storage part, a sensor input part, a movement information acquisition part, a local periphery information creation part, and a location estimation part. The storage part stores point cloud data that includes a plurality of coordinates on a first coordinate system for points that represent portions of objects. The sensor input part acquires output from a sensor that acquires information about the surroundings of a vehicle. The movement information acquisition part acquires vehicle movement information that is information about the movement of the vehicle. On the basis of the information acquired by the sensor input part and the movement information acquisition part, the local periphery information creation part generates: the location of the vehicle on a second coordinate system; and local periphery information that includes a plurality of coordinates on the second coordinate system for points that represent portions of objects. The location estimation part estimates the relationship between the first coordinate system and the second coordinate system on the basis of the point cloud data and the local periphery information and estimates the location of the vehicle on the first coordinate system. The point cloud data includes a travel route for the vehicle on the first coordinate system, and the location estimation part estimates the relationship between the first coordinate system and the second coordinate system on condition that the vehicle is traveling the travel route included in the point cloud data.
