Abstract:
A vertical component extraction means (2) extracts a vertical component from an acceleration vector dependent on the body movement of a user detected by a three axis acceleration sensor (1), and then the vertical component is resolved into a high region component and a low region component by a high region/low region resolving section (3). They are used at a peak detection/judgment processing section (4) for detecting a candidate at the peak position of the movement of a user in the vertical direction, and the candidate at the peak position is specified based on the energy ratio between the high region component and the low region component. The peak position is determined by performing waveform matching on a predetermined range including the candidate of each peak position and then body movement is detected based on the peak position and body movement pitch is detected at a step position analyzing section (5). Consequently, body movement of the user in the vertical direction is detected accurately without being affected by various noises, and body movement pitch of the user can also be detected accurately as required.
