Abstract:
In the body structure of the front portion of a vehicle, to protect the inside of a cabin against a great shock of a forward collision or the like of the vehicle, it has been difficult to directly connect a suspension tower that supports suspension to a dash panel. In the present invention, in the body structure particularly having a small engine compartment, the inside of the cabin is protected by suppressing the amount of a backward movement of the dash panel while securing a support stiffness of the suspension tower. A shock absorbing portion (10c) is provided to a dash panel (10), a suspension tower (20) is connected thereto to secure a support stiffness thereof, and the suspension tower (20) is caused to revolve around a front pillar (2) by a shock (F), with the result that the amount of the backward movement of the dash panel (10) toward a cabin (12) is suppressed. Thus, the inside of the cabin is capable of being protected while preventing deformation of a brake pedal or a steering column in a direction of an upper backward projection with almost no backward movement of a brake booster.
