Abstract:

A body which has latent image patterns formed therein and in which the patterns formed in a substrate and the patterns formed in an optical shielding layer are so combined that the patterns cannot be observed with reflected light but the latent images can be observed with transmitted light, thereby preventing forgery. In at least a part of one surface of the substrate, a plurality of first elements having a higher transmission factor than that of the substrate are arranged in the first direction and at the first pitch to form the first pattern, and the phases of the first elements are partially differentiated from one another, thereby dividing the first pattern into latent portions and background portions; on the surface in which the first pattern is formed, the light shielding layer made from an optical shielding material is formed; in at least a part of the optical shielding layer, a plurality of second elements are arranged in the second direction and at the second pitch to form the second pattern; the first pattern and the second pattern are so arranged to overlap each other.
